IFA HbA1c Test (Whole Blood) uses immunofluorescence technology to measure HbA1c levels in whole blood. This test is a key tool in monitoring long-term blood sugar control for individuals with diabetes mellitus.
Why Measure HbA1c?
Measuring HbA1c provides insight into average blood glucose levels over the past 2–3 months. It helps:
- Support the diagnosis of diabetes.

How It Works
Glucose in the blood naturally enters red blood cells (erythrocytes), which are freely permeable to glucose. Inside these cells, glucose slowly and non-enzymatically binds with hemoglobin A. This process creates glycated hemoglobin, also known as HbA1c.
When blood sugar remains high over time, more HbA1c forms. Elevated HbA1c levels can indicate poor blood sugar control, which may lead to long-term complications in diabetes patients.
Importance of Monitoring HbA1c
Studies have shown that lowering HbA1c levels helps:
